Origami

This project explores how folding can turn flat fabric into three-dimensional shapes. Inspired by the idea of origami, I wanted to understand how simple lines and angles can build structure and movement in clothing. I started by experimenting with different folding patterns and materials to see how each reacts to pressure, direction, and layering.
Through this process, I learned how fabric stiffness, texture, and thickness can completely change the way a fold holds its form or moves with the body.
During the development, I carried out several structural tests to study balance and flexibility. I tried combining sharp, geometric folds with softer curved lines, looking for a point where the garment feels both strong and light. The final design shows how folding can become a bridge between function and expression — a method that shapes not only the garment’s form but also how it moves and feels on the body.
This work is about finding harmony between control and freedom. The folds can open, shift, and reshape as the wearer moves, showing that structure does not have to be rigid. Through this project, I explored how simple folding techniques can bring fabric to life, turning it into a living surface that grows and changes with motion.
