Balenciaga Transmissions: Heritage and New Creation
This project reinterpreted Balenciaga’s couture heritage through contemporary design and material experimentation. My concept, inspired by the contrast between sleep and bones, reflects on the rhythm of modern urban life and the tension between rest and constant motion. I explored the spatial relationship between the human body and padded forms, combining quilting and boning techniques to create sculptural silhouettes.
The final look consisted of asymmetrical down suits featuring deconstructed skull motifs made from striped and checked fabrics, integrating structure with softness. Throughout the process, I translated Balenciaga’s architectural precision into a new language of comfort and protection. This collaboration allowed me to deepen my understanding of couture construction while developing my own approach to form, proportion, and emotional expression in design.
